The legacy of ‘The Greatest’ Muhammad Ali is set to continue in boxing and beyond.
While Ali’s other grandson, Nico Ali Walsh is 6-0-0 in boxing with five knockouts, Nico’s brother Biaggio Ali Walsh will debut as an amateur on the preliminary card of the 2022 PFL World Championship.
Walsh is expected to go pro during the 2023 PFL season. The Professional Fighters League announced in a press release:
“The Professional Fighters League is committed to growing the league and the sport of MMA, it is incumbent upon us to look for the future stars of our sport, we have found one of those stars in Biaggio,” stated PFL CEO Peter Murray in a press release.
“We are excited to watch Biaggio’s journey from amateur to professional on the world stage with the PFL.”
The release went on to discuss Walsh’s football career at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas and later UNLV. By 2020 Walsh decided to pursue acting but also MMA at at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Biaggio Ali Walsh to the Professional Fighters League,” said PFL President of Fighter Operations Ray Sefo.
“I look forward to working with Biaggio and his team as he continues to grow in MMA. Biaggio has a world of talent that he will develop right here in the PFL.”
“I have a legacy to live up to, a legacy that my grandfather began, that my brother and I continue, I chose to continue that legacy here in the Professional Fighters League,” Walsh stated in the release.
“My one and only goal is to one day become a PFL World Champion. Per a separate release, the promotion said:
“The stage is set for the biggest night in MMA, the 2022 PFL World Championship, where $6 million in prize money awaits six PFL world champions. Kayla Harrison will seek her third consecutive PFL world championship in the Women’s Lightweight Division, while 2021 Heavyweight Runner-Up Ante Delija will return to the finals with his sights set on a title.”
The 2022 PFL World Championship takes place Nov. 22 at a location to be announced.
